Authors who use Microsoft Word for writing their manuscripts may have seen the message, “Unlicensed Product,” recently.

Microsoft has announced that support for Office 2016 and 2019 will end on October 14, 2025. This means there won’t be any extensions or security updates. However, according to Microsoft, the programs will continue to work but may be exposed to potentially harmful security risks.

Please review Microsoft’s website or support page for updating options.

Other writing tool options may include using Google Docs or trying LibreOffice.
